How to test
When creating your show, you will want to make sure that your behaviours and dashboard items are working correctly. So we have built in a Test function (found in the top right hand corner of the scene builder) which will only run the scene you want to test as if the show was live.
- You can test before you connect, patch and pair any real hardware. You can operate Digital, Sensor and RFID inputs in the Overrides panel.
- You can also watch if the outputs update as you expect them to.
- Your Dashboard readouts will also change as they would when the show is actually live.
- You can also test a show by hitting Live and starting the show from the very beginning, including the Pre-show.
Testing Digital & Sensor Inputs
Digital and Sensor inputs are represented as toggle switches. If you wish to simulate a momentary button hold down SHIFT while clicking on the input.
Testing RFID Reader Inputs
Each RFID reader has a drop down, from which you can choose from any RFID item in the show.
Testing Audio
To test audio is playing at the right times, you could set all your audio files to play locally in your behaviours. But if you are planning on playing audio from multiple Media Masters and you want to test that it will play from them before you connect and pair real hardware:
- In Devices, click the three dots in the top right hand corner of the Media Master, and click 'Open Simulator'.
- This will launch a separate window which is the simulated Media Master.
- Whenever audio is told to be played from this Media Master, it will play from this window on your computer.
Testing Video
Without paired hardware, video can only be tested from simulated Media Masters.
- In Devices, click the three dots in the top right hand corner of the Media Master, and click 'Open Simulator'.
- This will launch a separate window which is the simulated Media Master.
- Whenever video is told to be played from this Media Master, it will play from this window on your computer.
- N.B. this is not intended as a method to play video on an external screen connected to the computer for a live show, it is only to be used in testing.
